什么是黃銅，什么是青銅，如何辨別？
黃銅是以銅為基體的銅與鋅的合金，牌號以“H”打頭，后跟兩位數(shù)是銅的平均含量；除黃銅和白銅（銅與鎳的合金）外的所有以銅為基體的銅合金都稱為青銅。常用的主要有錫青銅、鉛青銅、鋁青銅、鈹青銅等。牌號以“Q”打頭，后跟主加元素的符號及平均含量，再跟次加元素符號及平均含量。肉眼分辨只能從顏色觀察上進行，黃銅較亮，青銅較暗。
黃銅主要品種有：普通黃銅（如H65)、鎳黃銅（如HNi65-5)、鐵黃銅、鉛黃銅、鋁黃銅、錳黃銅、錫黃銅、加***黃銅、硅黃銅等。黃銅從牌號上可以明確的分辨出來，***位字母H 表示黃銅類，次位字母表示主要添加元素，***組數(shù)字表示銅的含量，以后的數(shù)字依次表示其它主要元素含量；黃銅的顏色一般較為鮮亮，多呈***。
青銅的主要品種有：錫青銅（如QSn4-3)、鋁青銅（如QAl9-2)、鈹青銅、硅青銅、錳青銅、鋯青銅、鉻青銅、鎘青銅、鎂青銅、鐵青銅、碲青銅等。青銅牌號***位字母Q 表示青銅類，次位字母表示主要添加元素，以后的字母表示其它主要元素。***位數(shù)字表示除銅外主要元素的含量，以后數(shù)字表示其它主要元素的含量。外觀上青銅顏色晦暗。
鉛黃銅的熔煉、鑄造生產(chǎn)并不困難，可以使用感應(yīng)熔煉，坩堝熔煉等方式，鑄造生產(chǎn)可采用半連續(xù)鑄錠、砂模、鐵模等；鉛黃銅的壓力加工性能并不優(yōu)良，一般三向壓應(yīng)力的熱加工性能尚可，熱擠壓為主要熱變形手段，而其他熱加工方式如熱軋則易產(chǎn)生裂邊現(xiàn)象。（α+β）兩相鉛黃銅熱加工性能優(yōu)于單相鉛黃銅。鉛黃銅冷加工性能較差，變形硬化大，現(xiàn)代鉛黃銅壓力加工方法中，水平連鑄坯料冷加工方法發(fā)展迅速。
